New nominations

OBERSON ABELS SA is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Mizrahi-Meller (Tax Group) and Joël Pahud (Litigation Group) as partners, effective January 1, 2025.

• Emily Mizrahi-Meller specializes in Swiss and international tax law. She assists private clients with their personal and estate tax planning, covering aspects such as trusts, lump-sum taxation and relocation. She also advises both individuals and corporations on complex tax matters including corporate restructuring, real estate transactions, and tax audits by cantonal and federal authorities. Emily has particular expertise in FATCA and CRS issues, and represents clients before cantonal and federal courts in the context of tax disputes.

Bilingual in French and English, Emily regularly publishes and teaches in her areas of specialization. A graduate of the University of Neuchâtel with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in law (2008 and 2009), she was admitted to the bar in Switzerland (Geneva) in 2012. She recently obtained her federal diploma as a Certified Tax Expert in 2024.

• Joël Pahud advises and assists the firm’s clients in contentious matters before civil, criminal and administrative authorities and courts. He is particularly active in white collar crime, internal or administrative investigations, asset recovery (freezing orders, exequatur, debt collection, bankruptcy) and banking litigation. In particular, he can draw on almost eight years’ experience with the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG), where he worked as an assistant prosecutor and then as a prosecutor. He regularly publishes in his chosen fields.

Joël holds a doctorate in law (Fribourg, 2018), a master’s degree in law (Lausanne, 2009), a bachelor’s degree in law (Lausanne/Zurich 2007) and is admitted to the bar in Switzerland (Geneva, 2012). His working languages are French, English and German.
